How to eliminate double spacing?

How do you change the double spacing to single spacing when pasting in a Word doc?

Blog editors and word processors are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. I tried that and rather than cut the extra line it added another line – for each step you provided.
Here’s my issue: when I cut and past a single-spaced Word doc into the Post template, it appears with double spacing. Also, when I key original text into the Post template, it defaults to double spacing. I cannot achieve single spacing for a post.

You have to do what’s in the post I linked to above. That’s because the themes are designed to produce double spacing. Are you clear on that?
Are you also clear on the fact that WORD is not a web compliant program? -
I now get that WordPress defaults to double spacing. And I now understand that Microsoft Word is not web compliant. Thanks.
As mentioned, I cut and pasted a Word doc (poem) in and then tried the steps in the link above to achieve single spacing without success. Then I tried to key in the poem in order to originate it in the WP post template with single spacing – also without success.
SO, clearly I need to review and revisit all of this later. I’m tired – and even under the best of conditions I am not temperamentally, mentally or constitutionally suited for this stuff! It’s so not intuitive like Word is.

Eureka! I found a way to achieve single spacing on a Word doc that I cut and pasted into the Post template. By using the pulldown to reset the Paragraph Format and setting it on Heading 6 it made the text single space.
Thanks again – I used the info in the link above and messed around with it to find this solution – would never have gone there if you had not sent the info.
