How to eliminate wordpress from my URL completely
-
Hello,
I’ve recently set up a domain and configured it to point to my blog, which has worked like a charm. The only problem is that I’d prefer that the blog was actually located at www.(mydomain).com in the browser’s address bar rather than having the domain simply redirect to the old wordpress URL, which is what I didn’t want when I bought the domain. Is it possible to configure it so that the blog appears to reside at www.(mydomain).com?
Thank you.

What you would need is the domain mapping upgrade here at wordpress.com. That would “point” your blog here to your domain name. What you will end up with is your blog will show up at http://mydomain.com. WordPress will not map to the www subdomain. All of your blog pages would reflect your domain name and there would not be any wordpress in it except if they clicked on an image in your blog to view a larger original. Since those images are still at wordpress.com, then they will still show the blogname.wordpress.com URL.

You’re just one step short. Go to Settings -> Domains and click ‘Put Blog Here’ next to your primary domain.
