How to embed a blog post snippet on a page?

Hello,
I want to create a page on my wordpress.com blog (http://the-shooting-star.com/) to feature certain posts. Instead of just hyperlinking the URL, is it possible to display the post with a title, description & thumbnail – something like what appears when a link is shared on Facebook?

If you are not successful when searching there is a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum for your theme under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard, but do note that the premium theme must be active and you must be signed in as the user who purchased it in order to see it and post to it.

It can only be hyperlinked manually, right? Not with a thumbnail, title, short description and frame around it (like a link shared on Facebook). Or can it?

Sure it can. Just depends on your coding skills or your ability to format things in the visual editor. Put it in a block quotation, then insert the image from your media library, selecting Thumbnail size, type in the description, and there you go.

As two members already said, it –all of it– can be done manually. But to do it you have to be an experienced coder. Example here:

I don’t understand, however, why you’d want to make a hand-built index look machine-made. Readers are going to click on something that looks like YOU wrote it. They don’t care so much what robots write.

@raincoaster – I’m just trying to make it easy for readers to find posts under a certain topic, by compiling them on one page. It looks much more appealing with the snippet than just hyperlinking it to text.

Sure, but think of it as writing your own marketing copy. It’s a chance you don’t have in the Top Posts widget. Write a commercial for your post.
