How to embed blog posts on a site?

    Hi there,
    i’d like to ask for some help here. I use the free wordpress version, Theme “Gateway”. I’d like to embed some of my blog posts on a page (not only on the homepage). i’d also like to have a teaser including the article’s image and some text, i.e. the first lines, similar to the featured content on the homepage. How do i do that?
    I’ve read that it suffies to insert the URL in the editor, then exactly this should happen, but it doesn’t, actually. All i see is the link as text, nothing else. What am I missing? Slowly, it’s driving me crazy, so please help!

    The URL of a post inserted into a static page will not display the post. I don’t think you read that in a WordPress.com document.

    The options you have for displaying posts on page include the following:
    1. Use category pages. See Category Pages support page. See also the topics Add page with ability to include content or the How to post in pages?

    2. Insert display posts shortcode in a static page. See the Display Posts Shortcode support page.

    You may customize display posts shortcode to include excerpts, with the include_excerpt=”true” argument, as described in the support page.
