How to embed links?

How can I embed a link to this map, which changes weekly? http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/drmon.gif
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The changing weekly part is problematic because if the URL changes weekly, then you have to edit and change it in your post or page weekly.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/edit-pages-screen/This is the general link model:
<a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>
This is the visual result but as it’s just an example it’s not actually linked to a page:
Highlighted anchor text hereEnter the anchor text you want to link to first.
Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text.
Next click the chain icon in the Visual editor and proceed to create the link. -
Hi, timethief. Thanks for the reply. Maybe I didn’t use the right terminology. What I mean is, I want the GIF to appear at a certain point in my blog. Not a link to it, but the actual GIF, just as if I were embedding a video. They do change the GIF weekly, but the link remains the same; they just substitute a different picture with the same name at that remote website. I see instructions on how to embed YouTube videos; it seems that it should be simple enough to embed a GIF, but I just don’t know how. Thanks again.

Hi again,
You either posts an active link as I described above or you upload an image. You can upload image files in two ways: by going to Media → Add New from your dashboard http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/media-add-new/ or by clicking the new Add Media button right above the editing area of a page or a post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/

Special note re: uploading a .gif image. You must presize the gif to the exact size required prior to uploading it. If you crop it after uploading it then it will not display.

Since they are the one changing the GIF, I suggest simply hotlinking, ie using this code in your Text editor:
<img scr="http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/drmon.gif">Note that your blog needs to be wide enough to display the image.

I do understand that I can
- insert
an image, and I understand that I can
- link to
an image. But it still seems like there must be some way to also
- embed
an image, just as one can embed a video. That, anyway, is my question. I appreciate that you, too, may not know how to embed an image. But it seems that there must be a way.

Funky formatting on that last item. It was supposed to underline those words, not set them off as separate paragraphs. But OK.

Raincoaster, you’ve got it! There’s a typo in your entry — should be “img src” — but once I figured that out, it worked! For posterity, here’s the final version as it appears on my post, as revised by WordPress.com:
<img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/drmon.gif" width="90%" height="90%" />The result is the “U.S. Drought Monitor,” about a third of the way down my post. Thanks again!

AH yes, thanks for catching the typo. I should never write HTML before I’ve finished my coffee.
