How to embed static images in blog posts

Hey forum,
I have been searching for an answer to this question for several days now, and have a hard time finding any info on this, so I hope I am asking in the right forum. The main issue is that I don’t know the proper name for what it is that I am looking for.
I would like to have static, fullscreen photos embedded in blog posts. By that I mean photos that do not scroll with the rest of the post, but that reveal themselves as you scroll and are then covered by text again. I do not mean
- one
static background image, but any image that might be part of a post. Here is an example of this (the photos coming after the headline “the plan”:
http://www.bikepacking.com/stories/blood-sweat-skyr/I wonder if there is a way to make this work on a wordpress.COM domain and if yes how. Is there an html code or something similar? (we’re using the gateway theme).
