How to enable comments on my post?

    I have tried to enable comments on my post by going into the post settings as well as enabling the discussion settings, but the comments box is still not coming up. I am using twenty seventeen as my theme. Is it a problem with the theme?

    PS: Comments are enabled. Clicking on a post title reveals a comment box at the bottom of the post. Themes do vary but perhaps when some comments have been posted then a “one comment” etc link might appear at the top or bottom of a post.
