how to enable ipv6?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am looking for documentation on how to enable ipv6 for my blog.

I have these name servers set up for ipv6, but I need the ipv6 addresses also:
    ns2.wordpress.com IPv4:69.174.248.148
    ns3.wordpress.com IPv4:207.198.112.47
    ns1.wordpress.com IPv4:192.0.80.93

In a DNS query here, I don’t see any ipv6 enabled.
    > host destinationunreachable.net
    destinationunreachable.net has address 76.74.254.123
    destinationunreachable.net has address 192.0.80.250
    destinationunreachable.net has address 192.0.81.250
    destinationunreachable.net has address 66.155.9.238
    destinationunreachable.net has address 66.155.11.238
    destinationunreachable.net has address 76.74.254.120

    Thanks!
    Dale

    Hey Dale.

We don’t have IPv6 nameservers at this time, but we’re constantly improving our infrastructure. We have IPv6 support for our content distribution networks and other similar aspects of our service.

Are you looking for IPv6 support for any specific reason?

Well, honestly, I’m thinking I may have to move my blog to a site that does have IPv6 support, or minimally a plan to support it. I am not sure I want the risk of a hosting company that does not understand the impact of the runout of IPv4 addresses.

    I understand your concern Dale.

However, our services don’t depend in the availability of IPv4 addresses. Our servers are shared so your site does not have an unique IP, meaning that we won’t run out of addresses ourselves.

Perhaps I’m not understanding the problem fully from your point of view, would you mind giving me some further details to better understand your concern about this?
