How to ensure my RSS-feed contains images?
-
I’ve opened an account on Bloglovin. I “claimed” my blog and it appears on their site. However, the photos attached to each post do not appear on Bloglovin. According to Bloglovin, this problem has to do with my WordPress RSS-feed not containing images. I’ve tried to change RSS and Meta settings by adding widgets, but since there has been no change, I assume I’m not changing the settings as necessary. Please help! My blog is petitworldcitizen.com

This is your RSS Feed URL for your posts https://petitworldcitizen.com/feed/ Note that all Media Files including image files is in it. No setting adjustments of any kind are required. It is a valid feed. -

This is the URL for the feed for your posts http://optimisticmisfit.com/feed/ My response is the same as above. The feed is valid and contains all Media Files including image files. -

Thanks for your response but my photos/thumbnail do not appear on Bloglovin. When I contacted them about this they said it had to do with WordPress and my RSS feed. Also, I tried to link to the RSS feed URL you provided but it says Safari cannot open it. Do I have to have a special app for my RSS feed? Your time and advice is very much appreciated.

Hi there,
Right now, both petitworldcitizen.com and optimisticmisfit.com are set to only show a summary of each blog post in the RSS feed. You can change that in your blog’s Reading Settings, under Settings > Reading in the blog’s dashboard.
Next to “For each article in a feed, show” you can choose “Full text.” That will make sure the full text of your posts, including the images, are included in your feed and displayed in feed readers.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Hi Rachel. Thanks for your note. I tried your suggestion, but I still don’t see my blog post photos on Bloglovin. Anything else I can try? Thanks again.
-
It may just take a little time for Bloglovin to update and get the information from your new feed. I checked your feed, and all of the photos are there: http://petitworldcitizen.com/feed/
If those photos still don’t show up, you may want to try resubmitting the feed to Bloglovin.

I contacted Bloglovin again. They believe the problem may be an image on my posts:
http://pixel.wp.com/b.gif?host=petitworldcitizen.com&blog=53857146&post=4920&subd=petitworldcitizen&ref=&feed=1I can’t seem to access the link but I’m told it’s a blank screen with a dot. I’m not sure how to remove this from my posts as it seems to be the problem. Do you have any advice on how I can remove this? Thanks!
-
Hi there,
That image is used to track your site’s stats and can’t be removed. Did Bloglovin let you know why that particular image is an issue? It doesn’t prevent your other photos from appearing in your blog’s feed, so if they can give us more details about why it’s a problem we can see if there’s something we can do to help from our end.

Rachel,
Is the image a JPEG? They said before that all images have to be in that format.
-
Rachel,
This is the message I received:I believe I have located the issue. It seems like this tiny image is included in your posts and that is the one we pull.
Here is an example of an image address within one of your posts:
http://pixel.wp.com/b.gif?host=petitworldcitizen.com&blog=53857146&post=4920&subd=petitworldcitizen&ref=&feed=1You can resolve the issue by removing the small image or move it to the bottom of the post. Images must be jpegs to appear on Bloglovin
-
Thanks for forwarding the message from them. They mentioned that the issue can be resolved by moving the image to the bottom of the post. It’s actually already at the very bottom of the post, so it sounds like they may have an issue with how they pull the image from the post. Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do from this end if they aren’t grabbing images correctly from your posts.
