How to erase the provided "Home" page when choosing another static front page?
-
Heya,
I did set up my blog http://christianehuberarts.wordpress.com/ to be a static page with the posts on the “Blog” page. and the front page set to “Welcome”.
However, the “Home” page that was there from the very beginning when I set up my blog remains to stay.
It does not show in the pages – thus: I can not erase it.
When I erased the “Welcome” and tried to make the “Home” provided my static front page simply by editing it, of course I got a 404 error – the page “Home” was not set to be the static front page of course and the “Welcome” had been erased.
Now, back to Front page = posts page.
And than one more time: create a new page, make this your static front page and choose another one to display your posts.
Again I get “Home” (which has been there) AND the freshly chosen static front page.
How can I avoid that?
Thanks for the advice!
Christiane

You can’t find home in Pages > all Pages because it’s not a static page, it’s just a link to your blog front (regardless of what the front is set to display).
What you need to remove from the top menu isn’t the Home tab, it’s the Welcome tab. There are two ways you can do this:
a) The default top menu displays all your published parent pages. So one way to remove the Welcome tab is edit the Welcome page and turn it into a child page by selecting another page as its parent (from the pulldown in the Page attributes module).
b) The other way is to create a custom menu, to which you’ll add the Home item and all the pages except Welcome. Details here: -
