How to exclude text from the Excerpt in the Blog roll?

    Hello,

    I finished writing about ten different articles, all grouped together in a single “series”.

    I prefixed each article with something like “This article is number 3 of 10 in a series on [something]”. But when I look at my blogroll, the excerpt of each post is now my “series prefix”.

    I don’t want to write a custom excerpt for each post. I’m perfectly content with WordPress automatically selecting the first 50~ words (or whatever).

    I just need to exclude a block of text from being selected as excerpt text.

    What is the easiest way to do this without requiring an additional plugin, or requiring me to manually write all the excerpts going forward?

    What is the URL of the site you refer to?

    There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

    There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins.

    It sounds like that site is not hosted by wordpress.com and our support doc do not apply to it. We do not provide support for it. You are posting to the wrong support forum to get help with that site.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.     Sorry, taketruth.wordpress.com is a different/abandoned project unrelated to the one I am asking about. The one I am asking is a fully hosted domain, with its own FQDN. I do have FTP and CLI access to the server. The blog is pre-release at this time, so providing a link wouldn’t really help you.

    My question does still remain. Is there a way to exclude a block of text from being selected from the auto-excerpt that wordpress uses on the blogroll?
