How to find other blogs using the same theme as mine?
-
I think it would be interesting to see how other WP users, using my theme choice, have configured their blogs. Is there a way to search for them?

if it’s a theme released recently, you can try clicking on the comments left by wordpressers in the wp blog in entries announcing the theme releases (ie wp news on your dashboard). older themes, no definite way really.

since you can’t change your theme it might be worth a try googling for certain characteristic elements embedded in every theme, usually found at the bottom of the page, like “Theme: k2 by k2 team.” + you may limit your searches with site:wordpress.com

sorry for doubleposting below – didn’t realise there is an edit button :( to make up for it, here is a link specific to you template (using phrase “Design by Beccary” – enjoy http://tinyurl.com/y43hjo
note: some of them seem to be using another theme by Beccary, but it’s better than nothing

edited: post content in the above message – I promise to use edit button next time (i’m new to this forum) sorry

Tukan! You are amazing. That worked and was so fun. I found three people doing things that I would like to know how to do.

in the catagory list, they seem to have subcatagories. I will have to poke around and see how that was done…..http://markenergy.wordpress.com/
They have a scrolling box for their first large post instead of it taking up so much of the screen. I could use that, but have no idea how to do it. Another thing to figure out!http://leisureguy.wordpress.com/2006/12/20/good-catch-by-billmon/
this one has lots of different widigt boxes with links for his different areas of interest. I think that is just text boxes and html, but there might be a faster/easier way to do that.Whew!
I am very new to blogging and I just bop around looking at different blogs (usually the ones featured on the wp home page) to get ideas about what is possible. Seeing what other folks have done with my theme choice really makes it easier to see what I can adopt.
I have another blog which I would like to do the same thing with http://www.sonomavalleycalendar.wordpress.com. I will see if I can follow your directions above.
Thanks again! That was so much fun and really helped.

Tukan has said :since you can’t change your theme …
I don’t know where this “since you can’t change your theme” idea came from. I want to be sure that you know that you can change your theme as frequently as you want. :)
One of our technical bloggers has also done theme reviews so you do not need to speculate with regard to the features and bugs pertaining to any particular theme. This is the link to the reviews http://engtech.wordpress.com/tools/wordpress/wordpress-theme-reviews/ -
I understood that post to mean that, since you can’t hack your theme, there are specific parts of a theme which are fairly unique to that theme. You can use those parts as a Google search which will tend to return blogs using that theme. It worked great!

I’m glad to hear this worked for you and more importantly that you understand that you need not “be stuck” with any one theme. :)
-
Now I just have to see if I can figure out the three things I mentioned above….
Happy New Year!
