How to fix 2010 menu problems?
-
The menu system on 2010 has recently become acting erroneously – after several years of working perfectly!
I’ve done all the suggested actions in the Support section to no avail, including refreshing the site & clearing the cache. I also changed the theme to 2013 and the menus work as they should, before changing back when the problem re-appeared.
Under CONFEDERATION TALES top menu there should be three submenus. Only one (the oldest at order 1) shows.
Under SCI TECH I deleted the first item & adjusted the following three order #s to 1,2, and 3. But the nonexistent page title still displays as submenu order 1.
I use Firefox but the problem shows up on both IE and Chrome.

Hi Laer,
Make sure you are making your changes to your Custom Menu here:
https://laercarroll.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.phpAlso, make sure you’re clicking the blue Save Menu button every time you make changes so that they are applied to your menu. I note that on that menu, there is only one item under Confederation Tales, so I suspect you simply forgot to update the menu itself. If you still have trouble, though, please let me know! Please include specifics about what pages should be under which tabs. :)

Thank you. That did the trick. I still wonder how I’ve managed three blogs for several years, have never done this, and gotten the correct results. But that’s for me to figure out.
Thank you for such a quick and accurate response!

Hi Laer – You’re welcome. If you don’t have a custom menu, the default menu is used, which has probably been the case with your other blogs. But I recommend the extra step of using a custom menu, because then you can control the order of the tabs and some other things that the default won’t let you do. :) You can read more about custom menus here:

Thank you for the additional comment on Custom Menus. I see that 140 free and 76 premium themes have that capability.
I should mention I discovered why I was having trouble with this theme and not the two other 2010 blogs I maintain. The option Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu had become unchecked somehow.
The one option I miss from 2010 is the ability to change the color and font of each menu and submenu title. Oh, well.

Hi Laer – You could change those fonts with the Custom Design upgrade:
Custom DesignIt’s fairly simple to change all the fonts to the same font/color, but if you wanted to make each of the tabs a different font/color, that would require a bit of CSS knowledge. We do provide help in the CSS forum here:
