How to fix dropdown menu problem

I want to add a static page called “Topics” and have categories listed as sub-items in a dropdown list when I hover over Topics. I followed the instructions on how to do this and it messes up my menu: None of the tabs change color when I hover over them, and the dropdown menu for the categories under “Topics” does not appear even though I can see a carrot next to that tab. I am using the Highwind Theme which I believe should support a custom menu.

Topics dropdown, then the sub-items slightly change color and intent to the right a tad on hover.
Are you seeing something different or were you able to figure it out? Or am I completely missing the point of your question :-)

It must be my browsers. I just checked Firefox and that’s fine, but it’s not working properly on Safari or Chrome. Maybe I need to update those two. Thank you! :) -
Interesting! Please do let me know what happens after updating those browsers. That particular screenshot of mine was from Chrome (latest) on OS X.

I checked and apparently my browsers are all up-to-date but it still does not work on Chrome and Safari. Is there anything else I could do?

The next thing I would double-check is that you’ve emptied your browser’s caches in case it cached an outdated/corrupted copy of the style. (Instructions can be found at Browser Issues)
Could you make a screenshot for me of what you’re seeing and upload it to your site’s media library? Instructions for making a screenshot can be found at Making a screenshot.
I haven’t been able to duplicate anything looking amiss, but if I could see what you’re seeing, I may be able to figure out a way, if it is a bug on our end, or help figure out why your system may not be displaying the site as expected.

Alright I uploaded an image called “problem.” My cursor, which doesn’t show up in a screenshot, is hovering over the word Topics but nothing drops down. In addition, the About and Contact do not change color when I hover over them either.

Hi Carly,
That is odd; in the styling there is a “:hover” selector that the browser isn’t applying for some reason. Are you running any extensions in Chrome? Can you disable them to determine if one of them is conflicting?
Did you try emptying the cache, as mentioned in my last response? Just to be sure :-)
