How to fix Stats?

  • Unknown's avatar

My Site Stats are staying constantly at 0 despite having likes and subscriptions.

I’ve seen some information regarding changing a footer.php file but I have no idea what that is, how to access it, or what to do with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running AdBlock, Do not Track or Ghostery If so, please try disabling them. In fact please try disabling all browser add-ons and extensions.

Are you using the secure https:// log-in. If not please try it > http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

    (1) How you are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.

    (2) Exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

    (3) Please the troubleshooting steps we take whenever any issues like this arise:
clearing your browser cache and cookies > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
confirming third party cookies is enabled http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61416
    confirming JavaScript is enabled http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654
confirming Flash is updated http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and if required installing the latest version of Flash http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
resetting your router and modem and rebooting your computer
then logging in using the secure https:// log-in see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
    trying another browser

I have tried and checked all or your tips and none have worked.

My stats are remaining at 2 views all time with 0 today, even though I just received hits today through likes. And I have most certainly received more than 2 views all time.

So, the problem is still persistent.

    Hi again,

    (1) Through a DSL connection on my laptop.

    (2) I am using the latest version of Safari. Version 5.1.7.

  • Your stats aren’t at 0. You had 3 visits yesterday, and 2 today.

    http://wordpress.com/my-stats/

You just started your blog yesterday, so stick with it, and the views will come.

Keep in mind that folks can Like your posts through the WordPress.com Reader without visiting your blog.

You are incorrect, I started my blog almost a week ago. But, that is beside the point.

Also, I have a total of 5 “Likes” across my two separate posts. And one follower.

Is it just that the servers take an exceptionally long time to register views?

Although, that wouldn’t make much sense because my other blog received the statistics what seemed like almost instantaneously.

I did read your comment about the Reader, I was just stating the obvious for more information, by the way.

Followers can read your posts in many places and even click “like” buttons without ever entering the blog and creating a page view stat. Those who have username accounts only but no blog can become followers and click the “like” button.

There are several different ways that readers can start following your blog.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/following/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/followers/

Your blog followers is the sum of the following:

    WordPress.com blog followers
Any followers from connected Publicize services (Facebook, Twitter, Messenger Connect, Yahoo!, or LinkedIn), which you can check in Settings -> Sharing

Go to your site stats page and click Totals, Followers & Shares
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#totals-followers-shares

Click the Blog link under the number and the Site Stats » My Followers page will open. Click the Email Followers link.

As I said above a follower or anyone with a WordPress.com username account can click the “like” button without visiting your blog and creating a page view stat.

A follower can click the “like” button when viewing your posts in the Readomatic reader on the home page of WordPress.com
A follower can click the “like” button when viewing your posts on the Topics pages.
A follower can click the “like” button when viewing your posts when using an app.
An email subscriber can click the “like” button in the email they receive of your new posts without visiting your blog.

P.S. To compel readers to click into my blog to read the full post I have set my RSS Feed to “summary” on this page > Settings > Reading

  • You are incorrect, I started my blog almost a week ago. But, that is beside the point.

Fair enough, but your first recorded view was yesterday.

Also, I have a total of 5 “Likes” across my two separate posts. And one follower.

As mentioned, “folks can Like your posts through the WordPress.com Reader without visiting your blog.”

Ah, that explains more. It would appear that I am just being ignorant as to the workings of WordPress.

Thank you both for your help. I’ll just do more research and use more patience.

    Cheers!
