How to fix the featured image in the structure theme?

Hello… I cannot get the “featured image” to work in Structure theme. I’m adding photos as featured images but the box shows up blank everytime. I’ve changed the setting to make it the most recent post that’s featured and also designating it to a category but no luck.
And I also don’t understand why certain photos show up in the below blog posts on the home page and not the others.
I’ve tried everything to troubleshoot these problems… please help!
