How to format my new idea

    I have a politics blog now and want to create a special focus within that politics blog. Please assess my idea on how I ought to do it:

    I will make a thumbnail icon picture and label it. It will go into the sidebar. When people click that icon, they will be taken either to a PAGE or to a newly created blog for that topic. However, those posts about that different topic will also be posted in the Politics blog, so that if people are not inclined to click onto the SubTopic icon in the sidebar, they will at least be able to see the posts scattered throughout the main politics blog.

    Is there a smarter way of doing this? The advantage of making another blog for this new topic is that if it gets sufficient readership, then it is already formatted into a blog. If not, then it is simply a cleaner way to separate that topic from the Politics topics.

    Please help me decide.

    That’s sounds like you will be creating a duplicate content issue to me whether or not you place it on a Static Page or in another blog it will be the same content, right? Google penalizes us for creating duplicate content http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66359

    There IS a smarter way of doing this: link the thumbnail to your local category page for that particular topic. And use that topic as a category on all appropriate posts.

    Time Thief…… This is very interesting. I keep learning more and more. Thank you and Raincoaster for helping.

    One thing: I wish that I knew all of this when I was beginning my blog. I have seen blogs that had great navigation sidebars with all posts nearly under their own category….. but that is because the blogger knew in advance how to create all the categories.

    Question because I just don’t get it yet: How do I do what you said? What do you mean by ”the thumbnail“? Where is my Local Category Page? I don’t understand any of the sentences up there. 8-( Lornakismet
