How to forward a domain bought on wordpress.com?

    Hi,

    I bought a domain on wordpress.com for my blog.
    Now I’m having a self-hosted blog and would like to redirect the domain to the new blog (which also has a new domain).

    Can anybody help me with redirecting a wordpress.com “hosted” domain to an external domain?

    Hi yogandrea,

    You’ll want to check with your host for the proper procedures for mapping external domains to your new blog at your hosted domain. In those procedures will be a step for changing the name servers of your domain here to point to your hosted blog. Once they tell you where to point it, you can update the domain via the procedures here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/

    Note on the bottom of that page are name servers for popular external hosts.

    An alternate route would be to transfer your domain to your new host to make management of everything easier. This would be advantageous if you’re pretty sure you’re going to stay with your external host and not use WordPress.com to host a blog in the future.
