How to get a main menu page to hyperlink to an external site
-
I searched but couldn’t find an answer for my problem. I want to add an item to my main menu called “Galleries” that directly links to my external site http://www.jimfletcherphotography.com. Trying to use the new page definition tool, it won’t let me specify an external link, but only smokieslight.wordpress.com/<pagename>. Can this be done? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

With some themes here, there is a trick that can be used to put external links in the navigation tabs, but if this is the blog you are talking about http://smokieslight.wordpress.com/ , you would have to switch themes. Only the themes in the left column work with this trick: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/page-tabs-as-external-links/ .

Thanks sacred. I tried the tip anyway and it worked with my current theme! I put a trailing space after Galleries so I could just use one word. Thanks again for your prompt reply.

And by the way, thanks for letting us know. It appears like it works better in Andreas04 than what was indicated in that blog post.

@Richard: I had always written “Almost OK” (don’t agree that only the themes in my left column are acceptable). With Andreas04 you get extra space before the tab (actually a blank tab linking to the static page). Interesting detail is you don’t get that if the tab is right next to “Home”.
