How to get a wider content area ?

You can either:
- Select a different theme that uses a wider content area. Browse our themes here: http://theme.wordpress.com
- Purchase the custom design upgrade and use CSS to make the content area larger for your current theme. If you’ve never used CSS before, then I don’t recommend this option. More info: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design

Thank you first for your advice.
I have purchased the custom design upgrade already, but I still have no idea on getting wider content area as I am not familiar on css. Can you give me a hand ?
Thanks a lot. -
