How to get acces to my old website whilst not having access?

    Hi guys,

    this may sound weird but a few years ago (2016 or so) I already started a wordpress.com website using a gmail address. After a while, my mail account got hacked so I deleted the existing e-mail and therefore the e-mail account for wordpress.com which I totally forgot.

    I wanted to start a new website with the same name but figured out that my old one still exists. Over the past few years I really forgot I still had my website online. My problem is that I want to get acces to my old wordpress.com website again but I need to have access to my deleted e-mail account.

    I tried to log in into my old website but wordpress.com sends a (password? authentification?) e-mail to my old and deleted e-mail account. There is actually no way that I get any access to it. I tried to open a new gmail account using the same mail address but Google mentions the username already exists. So I logged in in gmail with my deleted address but they say this mail account does not exist.

    I am clueless and hepless. Not sure if anybody could help me out but I would be indeed very grateful if somebody could tell me how I might be able to regain access to my old website.

    You will want to check out this page and fill out the Account Recovery form to regain access to the account:

    https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/.

    The ownership proofs listed there are the only ones we can accept, so if you’re not able to provide any, I’m afraid we won’t be able to assist you.

    fresatomica, thank you for your help but all those requirements I cannot fullfil. The 2 step authentification was not that popular during that time and I did not set anything in the settings. I was too afraid somebody else would get my phone number (a few people already tried to prank me several times). I know you need those to make sure that not a third party is trying to get acces to this account. But again, thank you so much!

    My new website would have been named as “its-a-schnorfi”.
    I mentioned on my old website that I am a student of the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (Germany). If you need any enrollment certificate to prove that I am the one who created this website, I could send you that.

    … if there is nothing you can do, is it possible that you might delete my old website and I can reuse the name for my new one?

    I strongly identify with this name and would love to use it as my new websites name.
