How to get access to WordPress to design my website with domain brought on go daddy.
-
Hi, I recently brought a domain on go daddy. I have never built a website before so was hoping to do so. Anyway after my own research I found a lot of information suggesting that WordPress is the best tool to use to design my site. Therefore on my go daddy account I decided to purchase the basic WordPress package to start building my site. As I have no clue how to get started I assumed that once I brought WordPress I could simply connect it to the domain I brought and then start working on building my site. I thought I did this on go daddy as I managed my domain by connecting it to WordPress where I was told my domain would be recognised as pubconversations.wordpress.com (I brought pubconversations.com as my original domain). I am a complete novice in this field but just wanted to know how I could start building my site? So far I feel like I have just wasted money paying for WordPress and not being able to use it as every time I try to connect to it through go daddy it keeps going to the page not recognised & check if the correct address is on the site. I keep refreshing the page but the same page stating page not recognised keeps coming up. Obviously in hindsight I wish I brought my domain through the WordPress site and then just started to design my site but as I’ve paid for the basic WordPress package through go daddy I assumed this would not be a problem & I can still use WordPress to design my site as I have paid. I hope this message makes sense to you as I am frustrated as I just want to get my website up and running. As a beginner I know it will seem complicated but I just want to make a start so would be very grateful for some help. Thank you for your time.

Hi There,
Calm down. Since you have already paid goDaddy for the services, we would advise you to contact goDaddy to help you in setting up your wordpress account and map your domain name to wordpress.com (if you have already paid them for the same)If you want to do it yourself then :
first you need to map your domain you purchased to your wordpress account in which your domain will remain at your current register but you will be using it at WordPress.com by changing the nameservers of it, you can read more about it here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/Also, you will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site such as Personal, Premium, Business, or eCommerce plan to transfer or map your domain here, you can check the below link for more details on plans & its features:

Hello –
What you’ve described to us here is using the open source WordPress.org software with GoDaddy as your hosting provider. That is different from the managed hosting environment that we provide here at WordPress.com.
I think the next step is to figure out which version of WordPress is best for your experience level, the project, and budget…
This should help make that decision:
– WordPress software with GoDaddy hosting: https://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress
– WordPress.com managed hosting: https://learn.wordpress.com/Write back with follow up questions so we can continue helping.
