How to get advertising on my blog

  I read your article on advertising, who is and who isn’t allowed, and having done that, I want to start leasing out space for advertisers. Where do I go to get advertisers? I want to start earning some money from my blog, which is about Technology, but I am not seeing anything straightforward. Thanks!

  There is no blogger initiated advertising of any kind on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. Are you clear on that because it does not sound like it to me. No paid content or sponsored content is allowed. Here’s what gets a free hosted WordPress.com blog suspended:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/
  http://en.wordpress.com/tos/

  If you want to monetize a blog then your have two choices only.

  1. Hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.ORG install. http://wordpress.org/

  2. There is only one advertising program at WordPress.COM for blogs on their own domains. If the blog is accepted into the WordAds program then the income is split 50% – 50% with WordPress.COM.

  Oh yes, I was clear that you could not do that on a free blog. The rest of what you had answers the rest of my questions, though the tone of your response was frankly uncalled for. You come across as being accusatory as if I am trying to do something against the rules.

  There’s nothing in my comment above that’s accusatory in nature. If perceive it that way then that’s your prerogative. It doesn’t chnage the fact that what I posted was the plain truth expressed in a clear manner, so that no mistakes could be made and no blog would be lost because the blogger lacked clarity.

  And buying an upgrade here such as Domain Mapping here does not change ANYTHING @TT posted above since you would still be hosted at WordPress.COM
