how to get background image to show as featured image on homepage

  currently my background image is not showing as featured image i.e. thumbnail when i share the link on linkedin, facebook etc. instead it shows my logo. I tried to add the featured image in the sidebar settings and still nothing.

  I am using divi, fyi
