How to get image attachment ID?

    This question has been answered in 2010, but that solution does not work in 2017. Nor does the solution offered in today’s official documentation (below):

    ‘Note: To get an attachment ID for an image, go to your Media Library and click on the title of the image you want. You can find the ID in the URL (the number after post=).’

    I am out of ideas. Any pointers?
