How to get links to open in another tab by default?

In the Classic editor, is there a way to get links to open in a new tab by default?
(instead of having to manually check the “Open in a new tab” box )
    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @fgiannang, there’s not unfortunately, not without adding a plugin to support that. We’ve asked about this and I understand opening in a new tab can be an accessibility issue (especially for those using screen readers) so you’ll want to use it intentionally.

For now our best compromise is to keep the new-tab option as simple to use as possible. I recommend highlighting the word, pasting the link, then checking the box that shows up. Let us know if you need more help!

    Thank you.
So I will have to be content with that.
In fact, I made the choice for all external links to open in a new tab.
As there are many, it is a bit tedious to have to check the box each time.
Having the possibility to configure the default behavior for links would be a useful feature for users, it seems to me.
    Regards.
