How to get money back
-
I had an $18. charge on my Discover card. Haven’t used this blog in years and didn’t know I was being charged. Tried calling but you can’t get through to a live person. The e-mail regarding the charge went to my junk mail so I had no idea the charge was coming. How do I get this amount credited back to my credit card?
Thanks,
Stacie

Hi there,
That sounds like it’s a renewal of a domain mapping upgrade and they are renewed annually for exactly that amount.Go to > Dashboard > Store > Billing History
https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/If you wish to contact Staff about the charges you see on your statement, please use this form (which works even when the main contact form is closed): http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?whywasi=charged

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades
See here:
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades

as well as

Hey there.
The $18 charge was for the automatic renewal of your custom domain, staciemeyer.com.
I’ll be happy to cancel and refund the costs of this to you if you wish.
Before I go ahead, I want to first make you aware that it may be tricky (and costly) to regain ownership of a cancelled domain. It can take up to several weeks for our registry to release the domain, and we can’t guarantee that it will be available to you again once cancelled.
If you confirm that you want to give up full ownership of staciemeyer.com, I’ll carry on to refund you.

@siobhyb perhaps you can help me as well!!
A few days ago I was charged with the automatic upgrade renewal before I could cancel the entire thing (due to connection issues), and now I find out I cannot have a refund to it. I was planning to give up my domain altogether, and was successful on canceling one of my two blog’s upgrades that was due to expire next month – actually, I thought both upgrades were going to expire together, but I had a bitter last-minute surprise. And now there is a charge on my credit card for something I’m not going to be using for the next year. Is there anyway I can have a refund in this situation??

@beatriz0liveira: I’ve gone ahead to cancel and refund the cost of your WordPress.com Premium plan minus the cost of the associated domain, beatrixtattoo.com. The total that has been refunded is $73. Please note, it can take a few days for a refund to process and appear on your statement.
The reason that I have yet to cancel beatrixtattoo.com is for the same reason I noted for @staciemeyer. Domains can be very tricky to get back once they have been cancelled and I wanted to confirm you wished to give up full ownership before cancelling.
If you are certain you want to give up ownership of beatrixtattoo.com then just let me know. I’ll then be able to cancel and refund you the remaining $26.

Thanks for confirming! The domain’s now been cancelled and the remaining $26 refunded. :) Have a lovely weekend!
