WordPress alert said I am out of space to post any more images. How do I get more space for images?

If you originally uploaded full size images that ate up your storage space, you can use the “replace image” function in the advanced image settings to upload a smaller, optimized version of the image and then delete the original image. Don’t bother with WPcom’s built-in resize image function, as that won’t help you reclaim storage space.

Barring that, spring for the Space upgrade at US$20/year. That will give you another 10GB of storage. Since your account is 4 years old, you should see the Space upgrade as an individual upgrade in your site’s Dashboard>Store. That will allow you to continue to create Galleries or use Featured Images in your posts.

If you aren’t using either the Gallery feature or Featured Images, you could just create another WPcom site and hotlink your images from there via “Insert by URL”. Since according to WPcom’s new user guidelines you can’t use a site solely for the purpose of hotlinking, so you’ll need to actually post something there from time to time.

As your account is prior to September 1, 2014 you can buy the extra storage upgrade.

I paid for a premium account this year. I already have a space upgrade. I upload images that are ~ 240kb each = A rough estimate of about 40 MB total. How can I see how much I have left and how can I see what size each image is in my WP account are?

OK Found my stats. I have 13 GB and have use 290 MB. False error message from WP during an upload. Sorry for the bother.
