  I just created a domain name on name cheap. Do I have to transfer it here?

  Hi there,

  If you only just registered the domain, you won’t be able to transfer here, as any new domain at any domain provider is transfer-locked for the first 60 days after registration, or after a prior transfer.

  So to use that domain on a WordPress.com site right away, you’ll need to use the domain mapping upgrade included in our paid plans instead. Then you can transfer the domain later, once it’s past the transfer lock period.

  That said, I notice you’ve since deleted the WordPress.com account you used to post here. If you did that in error, please reply to the account closure email we sent you to reverse that and re-open the account.
