how to get older posts onto another page
-
I can’t get the Older Posts/Newer Posts tabs to show up at the bottom of my home page, and I want only 10 posts to show up on my front page. I’ve tried the instructions for setting up Static Pages and checked the instructions for menu management, but to no avail.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. You can’t have the Previous/Next links show up on the home page. Those links can ONLY appear on single post views.
To control the number of posts that appear on the home page you need to go to Settings ->Reading and set it there.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/reading-settings/To have an Older Posts button appear at the bottom instead of posts loading automatically you’ll need to deactivate infinite scroll.

Thanks for your help so far; I realize that on part of my previous post, I meant navigation buttons, but somehow implied links. I’ll deactivate the infinite scroll part and see how to do the post limit, but I’m still not sure exactly what else happened. Is that [the infinite scroll setting] what’s possibly messing up the Static Page settings as well? On my current Home page, it’s showing an “Older Posts” navigation button at the bottom of the page, but when I go to see more older posts, there is no “Newer Posts” navigation button. I would like to do a Static Front page and then have the rest of the post go to the Blog page, like it had once done before.
One time, I got it working just right; I could find my older posts listed under the Blog page, and now I have no idea what happened after I had made some changes. All I know is that I’ve had to remove the Home and Blog pages I created because all they would do is show the titles “Home” and “Blog”. I’m not sure how to do the Menus workaround to get those pages working right again.

Update–Thanks, Kokkieh, on helping me sort through some of the issues. Using footer menus has helped a little with things, as well as double-checking to make sure that I was off infinite scrolling on both my blogs. I see now where the “older posts” and “newer posts” show up on the individual post, and I have the “older posts” navigation button back where it’s supposed to be in the blog itself.
Still not sure what to do about Static Page settings–the new blog theme I selected has made things very user-friendly and I was able to find many of the bugaboos and fix them. However, I’m not sure about using Static Pages (e.g.–a front page and a corresponding blog page). I took off the Home and Blog pages that I made and published while following the setup directions. I have an “Older Posts” page, but since it’s showing the same information as the Home page link, I’m not sure I even need it as a “blog” page. What options can be used? Thanks again.

When you click the Older Posts button the older posts load underneath the newer posts, bit the newer posts remain on the page, so there’s no need for a newer posts button in this case. You just scroll back up to see the newer posts.

As your blog is private I can’t see it, so I don’t know how it looks at this moment.
Do you want a static home page or not? If you want a static home page, you’ll need the Home and Blog pages. The blog page you publish without any content, while the home page should have the welcome message of your choice. I.e., the home page is a regular page with content, in this case, the first content you want your visitors to see.
If you don’t want a static front page but merely want your post feed to appear there, you can delete both the home and blog page you created, as you don’t need them. Same for the Older Posts page. Then just make sure under your Reading Settings that you have Front Page set to Latest Posts.
