How to get picture in the Vigilance/Blavatar box?

I just today switched templates from Andreas ’09 to Vigilance. I see that Blavatar widget and I read the instructions on how easy it is to use, but the instructions were not step-by-step and I ended up with nothing. I do have a picture in the Profile section, but that picture does not show up in the Blavatar widget.
How do I get a picture into that Blavator box?

Blavatar widget? There is no Blavatar widget. There is a Gravatar Widget, but a Gravatar is not a Blavatar.
The picture in your Profile is your Avatar, not your Blavatar. You upload the Blavatar under Settings->General, Picture.

1. Drag the Gravatar widget into the sidebar and it will open for edit.
2. In the pulldown under “Select a user or pick custom and enter a custom email address.” select your username/nickname you gravatar is associated with.
3. Select a display size for the image.
4. Select an image alignment. None left aligns but does not have text wrap. Center does not have text wrap. Left and right have text wrap.
5. If you want a URL linked to the gravatar, put it into the box under “gravatar link.”
6. If you want, add a description to include with the gravatar (short about statement or whatever).
7. When done, click “save”, wait till the little spinning donut disappears indicating it has saved, then click “close.”
8. Go to your blog and take a look. -
Thank you, Sacred Path. I actually did what you instructed before coming to the forum, but somehow when I did it again, as per your step-by-step instructions, the profile picture did indeed show up. I then added a few words
and then decided to change the profile picture to something more serious looking. I tried to change the pic from the Edit Profile site, but the window did not work so I went to the Gravatar site and uploaded a new picture, which of course showed up on my Profile.
I clicked Save on that Profile page. Then I went back to my Widget page to check to see if the new, more serious picture was in the Gravatar and IT WAS NOT. I opened up the Gravatar widget and clicked link for changing the gravatar and I clicked Save. Alas, however, I do not yet have my serious face with the coffee cup. The same old dopey smiling face is still there. 8-(

It can take an hour or so for the gravatars to propagate around all the wordpress server, and the sidebars are cached.
Log out, clear your browser cache, restart your browser and then take another look. If the new picture is showing up in your profile page, it has “taken” it just might take little bit for it to show up.

I have a similar but not same problem, two, actually. 1: I’m trying to get rid of Blavatar. I’m new (days) to this and didn’t realize the blavatar would replace the WordPress logo in the http// line. Besides the picture is awful. There is a CLOSED forum with an answer to this, but I did the steps suggested to no effect. When I go to Settings/General it shows no file selected, but the dang blavitar persists. Help!
2: I’d like to change my Gravitar, but clicking on the change button only gives a white box with “close this box if it does not close automatically” test at the top.
I really want to get rid of these images! Can anyone help? Please?

I forced the blavatar away by copying and loading the WordPress logo and choosing that file as a new blavitar. It’s a workaround until a real way to delete the blavitar comes.
Gravitar is another story, still just a white box when I try to change it, no way I can see to change or delete it. I hope someone can help. Thanks.

I read that, and I can’t tell you (I lost count) how many times I tried the website. However, I was going for gravitar.com not the en.gravitar.com and all I got was server down messages.
So THANK YOU! 1tess, for pointing me in the right direction. I’m not even going to try to change it again (for a while, at least).

Uh, I assume the new one will show up pretty soon, right? I believe I read it can take a while, even a day or two.
