How to get “Posts Page” with static front page?
-
Folks:
Could someone explain how the Reading Settings > Front Page displays settings work?I want to have a static page for the landing page (aka Front page), on which I’d like to place a link to the actual page of most-recent posts.
So, I set the “Front page” setting to the static page. But then I don’t know how to link to the list-of-posts page. And I also don’t understand what the “Posts page” setting is supposed to offer — it’s only showing the available static pages, and no actual posts page.
Clues?

You need to add a new Page, call it whatever you want, and set it as the “Posts” Page in those same settings. http://support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
But, can you give us a link to your WordPress.COM blog, starting with http:// so we can see a bit more, like what theme you’re using?

Hi Jennifer — OK, thanks, those support instructions did the job.
For anyone else stumbling in here, the non-obvious part is this: It’s necessary to create a dummy Page called “Posts” so that the system knows about the URL blogname.wordpress.com/posts, and thus offers that as a choice in:
Reading Settings > Front page displays > A static page (select below)
Posts page –> (select Posts here)Thanks again,
