how to get rid of commantluv ? I HATE IT
-
Hello my friends: I DID NOT install ‘commentluv’ on my blog. Can it be on another blog and affect my comments there ? how do I get rid of it ? it seems to be associating my blog with posts that I HAVE NOT MADE and HAVE NOTHING TO with my content. I want to understand it so I can control it. PLEASE TELL ME that Word Press does not push plugins or any downloads without my knowledge and consent – Many thanks !

Sorry I misspelled commentluv in my subject line… in my prior message.

Hi Vera, it looks like CommentLuv is a plugin for self-hosted WordPress.org websites, so it’s not something that would appear on your WordPress.com site, and it’s not something that we have any control over.
The differences between WordPress.org and WordPress.com are admittedly confusing, but this article may help to clear them up: WordPress.com and WordPress.org
It sounds like you may have a second site, using the self-hosted WordPress.org software, and that the CommentLuv plugin is installed there. If that’s the case, you can remove by plugin by logging into the Administration Panels and visiting the Plugins menu.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if there’s anything else I can do.

RE: how to remove Commentluv
Thank you for your reply. I do not have another site or blog at WordPress.org.
Could somebody have put a link into my blog and connect it to .org?
I now check every comment that I make on other blogs to be sure that there is not a Commnetluv tiny tiny line below it, if there is I can click it off. This has happened on a blog that is not in WordPress, it is a .com website and I have advised that person about it.
Again thank you for yr. help! Vera Ersilia -
Hi Vera, there isn’t a way for anyone to install the CommentLuv plugin on your WordPress.com site.
Are you still seeing the CommentLuv link anywhere on your site? If so, could you please give me a few examples of the URLS or pages where you’re seeing that, so I can investigate?

Thanks again… well I am glad that WordPress does not install plug-ins by stealth!
I find the C-L tiny line on this website:
http://thecatonmyhead.com/easy-like-sunday-the-outside-edition/
I think it must be on her machine BUT I do not see it on the other bloggers that make their comments. Janet is very friendly, I like her a lot and I have told her about it. I do NOT want to disturb her in any way.
I cut out the window for my comment so you can see how it is but I cannot or do not know how to insert an image here. Tell me how I can send it to you. Or maybe you can go there impersonating ilghepardo from Word Press? the fact is that I find there a window with my name and info AND the Commentluv link at the bottom.
I have checked all my visible plug-ins (which are very few) and I have not found anything on my machine.
I really appreciate the time and trouble that you take to keep Word Press clean.
Best regards, Vera Ersilia -
Hi Ian: I just went back to the catonmyhead site and noticed that some other commenters have funny links, for instance ‘cerebral hypoplasia’ does NOT sound a like cat lover’s link…..
I now know how to click off the C-L link on that website. And I now know how to recognize it elsewhere. So, that is progress.

Hi Vera, it looks like she has the CommentLuv plugin installed on her site, which is why you are seeing the links there. It doesn’t have any affect on your site at all, and it’s something that’s entirely under her control.
It sounds like you’ve already figured out how to opt-out of the links on her site, but please let me know if there’s anything else I can do.

Yes, Ian thank you, I understand all this now. I checked the hypoplasia link and it is indeed about a disease of cats !!! Have a happy week…
