How to get rid of dark overlay on my site header
-
Hey there!
I’ve been struggling with the header on my site (paulamagazine.fi) for a while now. The logo header (“paula”) is supposed to be a transparent .png file; hence the background should be white. However, there’s a dark overlay that’s been set to the original theme (Capri Lite) and I can’t get rid of it. I’ve tried customizing the style CSS but nothing seems to work. Any idea what to do? I’m using no purchasable plugins and the additional CSS isn’t working.
I also wish to have the header presented in its full size on other devices, e.g. mobile. Right now it cuts the header.
Anyone know what to do? I’m losing my mind but I think there’s just something I’m not seeing.

Hi @paulanpauloissa,
These forums are for sites hosted on WordPress.com, but you’re running the WordPress software on your own hosting (Nameserver: ZONER).
If you need further help with the self-hosted version of Capri Lite, feel free to post in its forum at WordPress.org:
https://wordpress.org/support/theme/capri-lite
You can also read more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Thank you!

Also – as a side note – I just tried to change your header background to white using my Chrome Inspect tool. I was able to do so using this CSS Code:
.big-title-wrap .overlay, .shop-entry-header .overlay, .page .entry-header .overlay, .blog-entry-header .overlay { background: #f5f5f500; }This should change the header on all of your pages BUT
please check all the pages & blog post on every device to confirm it is not impacting anything else. Also, please refer to this support article for more details on CSS: https://codex.wordpress.org/CSS
Cheers,
Ally

Thanks a bunch, Ally, it worked! Bless you for helping out.
Furthermore, do you have any tips on how to ensure the header looks good on every device? Right now it crops half of it out on mobile.
I’ll try reaching out on WordPress.org too. Cheers!

Woohoo! Glad to hear it worked :)
You may be able to do some CSS magic to make that happen but again it will depend on your theme. Be sure to contact https://wordpress.org/support/theme/capri-lite as they probably get this question all the time and may be able to provide you with the solution much faster.
Best of luck and happy coding,
Ally

You are posting to the wrong support forum.
paulamagazine.fi is hosted by AinaCom Oy, not by WordPress.COM

ns1.zoner.fi
ns2.zoner.fiWe provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. We cannot provide support for sites that are not on our servers. Our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM. That support is found at http://wordpress.ORG/support/
(3) sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page. That support is found at http://jetpack.com/support/WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, support docs and support forums, run different theme versions of themes with the same names, and many people get confused about the two.
