How to get rid of duplicate pages?

  • Unknown's avatar

I created a static page on my domain http://informlocal.com/ I named it Internet Marketing Agency, now it seems I have a duplicate page. A ghost (home page) with the exact address as my index that I don’t see in the edit pages section.

I’m using the 2010 theme hosted on a server i pay for.

I also have duplicate pages due to tag?

I really want to get rid of duplicate pages, please help

You can easily create custom menu items at ‘Appearance’ -> ‘Menus’ in your blog’s dashboard. Please carefully follow the instructions in this guide to learn more about it.

I am not real tech savvy, but I don’t see how creating a custom menu will eliminate my extra home page? Its not like I have two home pages on my top level nav. I can see in my stats that some people visit my home page and others visit my “created static home page”. Both are the exact same url.

I did eliminate all other extra pages with Yoast – meta robots plug in.

But I still have the ghost page.
Please explain it to me like I’m a ten year old, which is sad because I have a good handle on html and css code, but this php drives me bug s**t

    Thanks for the reply anyway!

You’ve reached support for the free blogs hosted at WordPress.com. The site you’ve indicated is running a self-hosted/installed version of WordPress (using the free WordPress.org software).

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:
    http://wordpress.org/support/
    http://codex.wordpress.org/

hmm, ok, one quick question, who is my askimet & jetpack registered with? I think it is with .org, if so is that ok?

    Thanks anyway!

Jetpack connects to your WordPress.com account and you should also have a separate Akismet account, via http://akismet.com/

Both of these are plugins enabled on your self-hosted/WordPress.org site.

At WordPress.com, we do provide support for Jetpack. If you have any troubles getting Jetpack set up, just let us know :)

It can be a bit confusing to remember which account belongs to which site, so if you need any more clarification, please don’t hesitate to ask.
