How to get rid of the Net Neutrality banner that shows on all pages of one site?
-
It’s weird that this thing popped up today, on this one site, of the 15 I manage. I tried to find the issue using the forum search bar, but only got things about people installing a similar thing on the widget sidebar. I have not seen ads on any of my other sites. I would like to remove it, but the “x” does not remove the banner.
Thanks,

Please check in your widgets > Appearance > Widgets
Have you activated this widget Widget Internet Defense League? -
As I have never seen that on any WordPress.COM blog before, I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

As far as I can tell the code might be this one:
<script type=”text/javascript”>
var _bftn_options = { animation: ‘banner’ }
</script>
<script src=”//widget.battleforthenet.com/widget.min.js” async></script>From https://www.battleforthenet.com/
But how it got on your blog is beyond me.

Wow, that was fast! Thanks for the quick attention, TT. I do have the Internet Defense League widget active, or on that site, but it has been there and on various other sites, and nothing like this ever showed up.
I just removed the Internet Defense widget, and voila, the banner is gone. That’s a bummer, but whatever…
Thanks,
Steve Keller
