How to get search for blogs on a given topic

How can I search for blogs containing search words and get a list of blogs which does not repeat blogs more than once because the search words occur in those blogs more than once? For example, if I search for blogs about hi-fi audio without getting all blogs on that topic occurring in the list as many times as “hi-fi” is mentioned in them, which of course would be very frequently.

One method is to search the tags/categories.

-click the “W” icon on the top left, on the Administrator bar to take you to the wordpress.com/# page

    – click on the “Tags” tab

    – you can type in the keyword in the box on the page (not the administrator bar) and click “search tags”.

for your example “hifi”, this is what came up:
    http://en.wordpress.com/tag/hi-fi/

That’s not possible as the Global Tag Listings at WordPress.com aggregate all published posts attached to any particular tag or category, and there is no means of narrowing the search results to exclude blog posts from it.

Note how the WordPress.com search utility operates. The search engine at http://search.wordpress.com/ has a few options to refine your search criteria: site, tags, username. Also, keep in mind that the search engine only indexes the body text of blog posts, pages, and comments. The blog name, post titles, and post/comment author names are not indexed.

I went to that list of results and shows more than one post from the same blog, which is exactly what I don’t want.

I can’t search for blogs on or mentioning topics I want? Laughable. In an internet forum, you can specify either posts or threads containing your search terms. It would be logical to have a similar option on a blog site.

I followed that link and it looks like the only options are posts and comments. I don’t see site, tags and username.

Also, keep in mind that the search engine only indexes the body text of blog posts, pages, and comments. The blog name, post titles, and post/comment author names are not indexed.

Which raises the question of why.
