How to get side bar in Twenty Sixteen

  I am using the Twenty Sixteen theme and I have tried everything but cannot figure out how to get the sidebar displayed on my homepage like it is in the theme preview. What am I doing wrong?

  Hi @tinatrekks!

  Have you tried in the Customizer > Widgets > SideBar > Add a Widget?
