how to get started with addapting css?

    Hi,

I am very new to WordPress and have never before worked with css. I have chosen the Twenty Eleven theme and would like to get rid of the white bar over de header and the black bar directly underneath the header. Where do I find these codes in the style sheet?

And how do I adapt the stylesheet? In your instructions you say that many people copy the whole stylesheet, but on the editing sheet it says one shouldn’t do this.

    Kind regards, Esther

DON’T copy the entire spread sheet. Enter your changes in the CSS editing box. What happens is that the original CSS sheet is scanned – then your changes are scanned and last scanned rules.

CSS is very specific to a Theme and what works on one Theme probably will not work on another screen.

If you have Firefox get the Firebug plug-in for the browser (don’t know if it is available for other browsers) – Firebug will let you highlight text and then look at the base code and CSS – I think it lets you preview changes but I am not sure (I don’t do CSS)
