How to get the content in each category to list form?
-
How do I get the content in each category to drop down in clickable list form rather than a string of blog posts? Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is not possible within the category widget. Instead you can use an Archive or Display Posts Shortcode to show a list of posts in a page or inside a text widget:

I was able to get the posts to drop down in Descending order in a new Recipes box. How do I get them grouped by category so its not just a long string?

The widget doesn’t support that feature. We’ve registered your suggestion and will keep it in mind for future features and updates!
Also, don’t forget the ideas forum, where you can discuss your suggestion with the WordPress.com community: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas

There must be some way of categorizing them. Other WordPress users have managed to do so.

Where have you seen other WordPress.com users doing this? Our current shortcode doesn’t support this yet.
Alternatively you can add category pages to your navigation menu that allow your visitors easily go to certain categories and see their posts:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pagesThere are no restrictions if you set up a self-hosted WordPress.org installation. We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested: http://get.wp.com/hosting/
