How to get the correct 'publicly visible' Email address?

The site has selected the wrong Email address to use a the ‘primary Email address’ and tells me I cannot change it. The very first steps asked for an Email address on which to correspond with me but no mention was made that this would be the Email address associated with the blog. I need the ‘publicly visible’ Email address to be different. Do I need to start again to get this correct?

I am happy with the current Email address for account correspondence (*email deleted by Staff*) as long as it is not public.
I think that I have selected another Email address in Dashboard to be my publicly visible one (*email deleted by Staff*) but am not sure how to verify this.
The link you gave me above ‘to change Email address associated with blog’ takes me to a page which tells me I do not have authority to do anything…! -
