How to get the portfolio look on portfolio layouts?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi! I have been trying to use the portfolio layouts but when I preview or activate the layout my front page always looks like a blog with posts that you scroll through but I want it to have the portfolio look that I see in the demos, where you get images that you click to view the project. I have tried sketch and illustratr but they both have the same problem. What am I doing wrong?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello there!

I see that you’ve changed your theme to Intergalactic. Are you happy with this change, or would you still like me to assist with a portfolio layout on Sketch or Illustratr? If so, reinstall one of those themes, and let me know how I can help.

I’m not sure if you’ve seen it, but Illustratr has a setup page that can help walk you through the process of configuring your front portfolio page:

    So does Sketch:

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

“Create or edit a page, and assign it to the “Portfolio Page Template” from the “Page Attributes” module.
Go to Settings → Reading and set “Front page displays” to “A static page.”
Select your portfolio page as the “Front page,” and then choose another page as the “Posts page,” (to display your blog posts).”

This is what I needed to know! I have read the “Portfolio” set-up page so often but still couldn’t figure out how to make the portfolio layouts work like portfolios. :)

This was really helpful, thank you :)

Oh great! I am super glad! I took a look at your site, and it looks beautiful with the portfolio in Sketch. Nicely done!
