How to get to full dashboard
-
Yesterday I asked someone how to get to the ‘old’/Full dashboard I’m familiar with, since there’s no longer a Meta widget. I was told that, once logged in, I should go to ‘WP-Admin’ on the Lower Left of the new dashboard. There’s no ‘WP-Admin’ where I’m looking. On the left side (as I write this), there’s My Profile, Account Settings…all the way down to ‘Help’.
I’ve been with WordPress since Aug 2011, had numerous blogs–but this is frustrating! The Meta widget was so easy and familiar, got me to the OLD dashboard I PREFER with ease. PLEASE HELP ME–I’m using the Twenty Eleven theme–deadmansbells.wordpress.com is my latest blog attempt…. Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can also reach the Classic dashboard by adding /wp-admin/ to your site URL
YOURWEBSITE.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Then bookmark it and you can access it that way.

Thanks much, and–can you perhaps clarify the instructions I was given regarding access to Classic dashboard from “the Lower Left side” of New dashboard, in the event I’ve landed there by mistake?? Sorry to be a bother.
Any chance WP will bring back the Meta widget?
Thanks for your attention to my issues.

I usually only use the Classic Dashboard, so hopefully I can explain new one…. please, bear with me.
From your site front page, at the top left corner of your navigation bar, you should see My Sites. If you click on that it will take you to the new dashboard. Find “Configure” The last link in that menu, at the very bottom of the left column, you will see (or should see) WP Admin. Click on that and it will direct you to the Classic Dashboard.
Alternately, if you hover over the My Site link, a drop-down menu will open. Scroll down to WP-Admin and you can click through to the Classic Dashboard.
I don’t think there is any plan to return the Meta Widget at this time. If you add a request in the Ideas forum, it will be added to any other appeals.

Thanks for your patience with me: I found “Configure”–however beneath that, the last link I see is “Settings”; I don’t see “WP-Admin” at all. Any clue as to why this is–is it the theme, 2011??
Thanks in advance–I’m hoping against hope for a resolution :)

Dear ifmomsaysok–
I tried using another browser, but got the same result: Under “Configure” my list includes–Sharing, People, Domains, and Settings. That’s it–No WP-Admin.
Thanks again, you’re a treasure!

I see what you’re saying about the drop down menu from My Sites, WP-Admin is not in the Configure list. It’s near the top of the column under View Site.
From the front page, hover your cursor over My Sites. The list should be:
Title of your site > URL > Switch Site > View Site > WP-Admin.

Hi, and thanks again for your efforts–here is where things stand now:
I’m wondering if you have to have multiple sites for this to work–because my “list” only includes Title and the URL…and the toggle option of changing my gravatar…
I can see the hovered message re “view your sites”, but it’s like a ‘trick’–because I Can’t view much! No drop down list like you describe appears–and clicking doesn’t do anything either.
Since I’ve bookmarked my site so that it will go directly to the Classic dashboard when I log in–I could use the blog if I want to. However, I don’t want to pay for the nice upgrade, if I can’t get things to work more smoothly for me.
I appreciate your patient help so much, now how do I contact Staff with the Modlook tag?–as I’ve no idea how to do that either.
And I don’t know where to post my appeal for the return of the Meta widget…
Thank you, have a good day!

PS–the one other thing I am offered at the top of that list is a link to “Add New WordPress”. This is shown directly below my URL (after that it just says Stats, then Plans; Publish, etc…). Mind boggling–like I really want another site I can’t navigate, haha :)

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. In the sidebar of this page look for “Tags.” Enter the word – modlook. Subscribe to this thread (also found in the sidebar) so you know when staff or another volunteer offers more help.
Good luck!

Given the trouble you are having, I would encourage you to just set a browser bookmark for the Dashboard of your site.
It will be a lot faster than trying to hunt around for a link to click.
