How to give image credits?

What’s a good way to give image credits?
A lot of my images are from free stockphoto sites that request credit-for-use, but I’m not sure how to put the credits in so they’ll be accessible but not distracting.

If I put it in the caption, is there a way to make part of the caption appear in a smaller font, so that I don’t have something that reads like:
    “White Rabbit”

Or is there a way to make the text “Image by MadHatter at LookingGlassPhotoFile.com” appear when someone mouses over the the image?

Or am I just not seeing some other and better way to do this?

The best practice is to make the image a direct link to the other site AND put in a text credit (not as a WPcaption: as real text, so you can make a link to their site). But mostly I’m lazy and just make the image a link to the site with the site name in the alt text (the text you put in the pop-up box when you’re making the link). If you add text underneath, you can just alter the font size in accordance with this:
