How to handle duplicate content when importing from wp.org
-
Hi there,
I’ve made the decision to move to wp.com from wp.org. There’s a few reasons. Anyhoo..
Just wanted to ensure that when I import my content from wp.org it doesn’t publish immediately on my wp.com blog. Basically does it live as a draft until I ‘re’ publish it here?
I am planning on building my wp.ocm blog here for a few weeks whilst my other blog is still live. Would there be duplicate copy issues even if the posts are only drafts at this stage?
Thanks in advance for your assistance. Please ask if I haven’t been clear.
Cheers Saxter
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can make your wordpress.com blog private and do whatever you need to do prior to making it public. To change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

Thx for that. So if I list it as private the bots don’t crawl and I can build without the risk of duplicate content?
That will be perfect. Thx Timethief

I received by post yesterday a letter from an internet troll addressed to my correct address and postcode. I was shocked that this troll managed to find my address which does not knowingly appear online. It was addressed to Aitana Donkey Sanctuary, which was a WordPress blog project I briefly set up in 2013, then abandoned the idea because it clashed with an existing Aitana Safari Park.
I have now done a search on the internet and I see that the CONFIDENTIAL details of my address and even my private phone number, shared only with WordPress when registering, are freely available on this site: http://www.statsinfinity.com/domain/fq2fXQYmIPp9hJ2glIUATg.._info.html
How on earth can this be possible without WordPress making my details known to a third party? This is very serious. How safe is personal information we share with WordPress?
