How to have a two-languages website?

We need to have a (simple) website in two languages. We understand wordpress.com does not support plug ins for that but we want to know if there are any alternatives, a subdomain for example, or two main links, one for each language. Maybe a premium account would add any possibilities.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The most common solution for this situation is to setup two WordPress.com sites, say mysiteenglish.wordpress.com and mysitespanish.wordpress.com. Then linking the two sites together through a custom menu item (and maybe even some sidebar graphic/banner links).
You will have to post to each site individually, which does take an extra step for every post. But since there is no way to automatically have a two-language site, it is the best solution.
Does that make sense? Or have I just confused things further?
