How to have full width images on posts in Motif theme?
-
Hi there.
On my website (cuturethread.me) I am in the process of changing my pages on the menu home page to categories (the look, the taste, etc). However, when I post in these as posts (rather than pages, which I have now) the image is not the full width of the page as they are on my website now (the blue dress, smocks appeal etc).
Is there a way to make images on a post the full width of a page?
Thank you in advance,

Hello!
I was playing with the CSS of it, I can remove the sidebars and center the rest, but the image is forced to a 705px width directly by the theme :(
So it’s not possible to do it. Write back if you want to at least remove the sidebars !

Hi Francis Bob,
Thanks so much for all your help. You really solved the problem with the text box. Re the images that’s a pity. I have upgraded to custom design with the motif theme.
Does allow you to have full width images by any chance?Cheers,
Jane -
No :(
But you could make a request, on the theme forum (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes)
If you want, I could help you to remove the sidebars and center the content.

I see that you expanded the article !
Do you want your text to be set to a width of 700px ? It will be easier to read.

Yes that would be ideal! If I could line the text up so it matches the width of the picture that’d be great. At the moment it’s spilling out over to the right.
Thank you! -
.archive .taxonomy-description{ max-width:700px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; } .archive .page-title{ max-width:700px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; } .archive .post{ max-width:700px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; }That should work well :)

Hi again!
I was just wondering if what you just did with centering my posts etc will work under my other categories also like the taste and the place? I’m in the process of adding posts to these and just wanted to make sure they would also line up with the images.
And is it possible to have my twitter and instagram logos on my home page?
Thank you,
Jane -
Yes it will work for all categories :D
You can add the icons in your menu. Would you mind to read a PDF I made and tell me what you think of it ? I’ll help afterwards if you still need help !
Click to access twitter_tut.pdf
Hope this helps !

Hi again,
The PDF all read great except the only twitter image I could select was in black which as my toolbar menu is black you can’t see!
Any suggestions?
I think the size is okay but it’s hard to know when you can’t see it too much!
Thank you,
Jane -
Well since you downloaded png files, you can change the color of it using an image editor ! The size seems fine !
Here a white version I made quickly : https://francisleninja.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/whitedisctwitter.png
Change the top parameter for -3px instead of 4px, and it’ll be centered.
Good job :)

Hey there, unfortunately the link won’t allow me to view pic. It says I have to log in? I’ve logged into my wordpress account but still doesn’t work.
Thanks,

Hi Jane,
As fracisbob suggested, you can use an image editor to change that icon you have to white. You can also find any royalty-free Twitter icon online, upload that to your Media Library, and replace the image URL in your CSS with the URL to the new image — you might need to tweak the sizing.
