How to…? – Header customization

  Hi,

  I recently changed my blog’s theme to “Freshy” (custom header, fixed width, two columns, page navigation). The original header is 780x95px, but I would like to use this one: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a16/stuff1/header.png, that is 780x233px, without croping it. How can I do that? I never used the CSS Stylesheet Editor.

  Also.. I would like to know if there’s a way to change the “search” button, to make it smaller.

  you would be able to do all that with CSS, unfortunately, the image you provided isn’t showing up either way, you could figure out how to do all this.

  to change the search form, you change the info within the #searchform input#s tag.

  The image isn’t showing up because there’s a comma in the end of the URL: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a16/stuff1/header.png

  This tag is in the CSS, right? And there’s a way that I can use this theme as a base, where can I get the code? Or can I use it just to do adjustments?

  The URL for the image is in #title_image. You will also have to change the height from 95 to 233. Do be aware, that for people with 800 x 600 monitor resolutions when they go to your blog, all they are virtually going to see is the header image. They may have to scroll down even to see the navigation buttons.

  Make sure and include the full URL of the image starting with http://. Relative URL’s will not work once you have the CSS upgrade.

  Also, Freshy can be a challenge when it comes to changing things. The backgrounds for the buttons in the top navigation are a complex set of gif images and to change colors, you actually have to recreate exact copies of the gif images with the colors you want.

  To Thesacredpath and tatianacarvalho9,
  I have the same questions for this theme. I like the theme, but can’t figure out how to change the color of the top navigation. I don’t want the green when you click it, I’d actually prefer the dark grey or another color TBD. I would also love to remove the text title at the top of the theme and use the banner for my grpahic logol or put an image where the text is. I have no idea how to use CSS and I’m also using the free features of the wordpress. what do i have to do in order to make the changes I want?

  Any advice?

  Changing the top navigation as I said requires building exact copies of 3 or 4 different gif images with the colors you want. It is all doable, it just takes a lot of work. Then you have to modify the CSS so you need CSS editing experience and you have to pay for the CSS upgrade.
