How to hide author and comments in posts

  Hello,
  I am using Oxygen theme in http:\francescalamarca.com and don’t want to display author info and I want to disable comments in post/pages.

  I changed the settings as specified there:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/
  and there:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/#bulk-editing-comments
  unfortunately, without results.

  Finally, I read that – in some cases – to hide the author, is required to upgrade to Custom Design.

  Is this the case or I can add custom CSS as suggested here?
