How to hide or delete the latest news on the frontpage

  Hey everyone,could someone share some knowledge and help me about remove or hide the latest news.i just read from other forums which is their mention that “you go to Index.php-find-delete” but my blog not installation stadalone.org. i just create my new blog on free wordpress.com.so it’s different with wordpress.org dashboard.so my question is,how to find the index.php file or there’s other way to solve this.? Btw sowry for ask dummy question.newbie here.
